What if there was a way to remove your limitations?

What if you had the power to take life into your own hands and pursue your passion?

Our Kajabi Hero today, Jeremy Henderson, proves that you can.

Jeremy found his passion in his teens when he discovered Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and it changed the course of his life in a big way.

Not immediately, but over time it shaped him, and put the pieces in place for the success he has today.

At 24, just out of the Air Force, Jeremy may have had his black belt, but nothing else lined up for him. He lived in a martial arts gym, with only $300 to his name.

But he knew his passion for Brazilian jiu-jitsu was worth fighting for.

Jeremy was determined to open his own martial arts gym.

He didn't know exactly how he was going to pull it off, but he went after his dream anyway.

He moved to Texas and found a building that had been vacant for nine years. And after being completely transparent with the owner about his situation, the landlord decided to take a chance on him. Without any money up front, the owner let Jeremy rent the building and start his gym.

On top of that, Jeremy discovered he was going to be a dad.

The pressure was on. Big time. And he knew that to make this thing work, he had to get the knowledge he needed to run a successful business.

Jeremy couldn't even afford the business books that he needed.

It sounds like a recipe for disaster doesn't it?

Did he let that stop him?

No way.

He'd go to Barnes & Noble every single day to read business books.

Do you want to know best part?

He outgrew that building in six months.

It gets even better...

Another six months passed and he outgrew a second building.

Jeremy's recipe for disaster turned out to be the best business decision he ever made.

He didn't let limitations keep him in a chokehold.

Instead of looking at the reasons why he couldn't pursue his dreams, he found reasons why he could. He made things happen.

Nothing hits harder than life.

Sometimes it doesn't matter what you do. Life comes out of nowhere and throws you a right hook.

Before you can prepare yourself for the blow, you hit the mat.

Jeremy was at that point in his life.

His gym was in good shape, but life hit him without warning. After a divorce and a move halfway across the country, Jeremy was at another rough spot in life.

Did he let that keep him down this time?

Not a chance.

But this time he took a different approach.

Instead of finding a job to fund the opening of a second gym. Jeremy decided to take martial arts online to generate income.

It didn't take long for him to find out that WordPress was just one big headache.

But when Jeremy found Kajabi, he discovered how seamlessly he could build a business creating online courses.

And after six months, with the help of Kajabi, he had enough money to open a second gym.

And he did it through sheer determination and a little bit of naïve faith in his passion for martial arts.

Even though his focus was his brick-and-mortar business, Jeremy discovered something about the internet.

It was limitless.

And with the help of the internet and Kajabi, you can remove your limitations and pursue your dreams just like Jeremy did.

Isn't his story great?

Even if you want to open a physical, 4-wall business, you can still use Kajabi to get there.

And if you already own a brick-and-mortar business you can use Kajabi to build it up too.

We're going to cover some ideas on what that might look like for you, but first, we're going to talk about some of the most common limitations that people let hold them back. And how Jeremy overcame these limitations to build his business and pursue his passion for martial arts.

The limitation of waiting until you're ready.

Starting a business is hard.

It's lots of work and a lot of businesses fail.

So it's easy to think that you need a perfect, foolproof plan before you can start.

Perfectionism can play a role in this. Fear. Insecurity too.

But here's the thing, planning doesn't make any of that go away.

There are a lot of things in life that we will never be ready for. Honestly, I think it's the best things in life that we're never truly ready for. Starting your own business is one of those things.

Waiting until you're ready to start your own business is only going to hold you back because it's impossible to achieve. The best plan in the world can never fully prepare you for what you want to do.

Starting a business can be ugly. You can bet you're going to make a lot of mistakes. whether you have a plan or not. But the internet is so forgiving it's hard to pass the point of no return.

And actually...

Imperfection can be a valuable asset that will build connections with people faster. Who can relate to a CEO robot who never makes any mistakes?

We are the only people expecting perfection out of our business. And by expecting perfection, we put limits on ourselves and what we can accomplish.

It's okay to be a little naïve. Jeremy believes that. I believe that.

And if you plan yourself into a corner, you can waste months or even years of your life not doing what you love.

The limitation of comparisons.

This is another thing that Jeremy says is crucial. Eliminate comparisons.

Think of it this way.

Imagine you're in a race focusing on the people ahead of you. Then even if you catch up, you're still looking to the side, worrying they're going to beat you.

You can't move forward if you're looking around you.

Know yourself. Know where you started. Compete with that. You're the only competition you should worry about.

I know it's tough.

When you're new to this thing, it is so hard not to feel inadequate when you see all the income reports, stats, and amazing things that people are accomplishing in their businesses.

Other people's success can be inspiring and huge motivation to see what's possible. I'm not arguing against that. But when you look at what they have done, then look at yourself... it's easy to feel less than.

Cut it out!

Worry about what you are doing to move forward. Look ahead at what you want to accomplish. Set goals. Reach those goals one by one.

Don't you dare for one second turn your head to the left or the right and think, "What I’m doing right now is insignificant."

There is no one on this planet who can share your message and your passion like you can.

You're not less than.

Pursuing your passions are not about becoming a carbon copy of another entrepreneur. It's about improving yourself and helping other people improve themselves in a way that only you can.

Destroy limitations with Kajabi.

I can't say enough about how powerful the internet is. If you use it as a tool to start your own business or grow an existing business, you'll find that limits don't hold you back as easily.

The internet has unlimited potential for business owners just waiting for you to tap into it.

I'm not telling you it's a quick fix or a get rich quick scheme. You can't put up a website, not do anything with it, and expect to get the results you want.

It takes work, just like it takes work to establish a physical business.

But there are so many resources available to teach you everything you need to know. And you can scale your business so much more quickly than you could without the internet.

Maybe your dream is to be a mechanic and open your own garage.

Don't rule out using the internet to make that happen.

Courses are so cheap to create using just your iPhone, computer, and Kajabi. You could start from there showing people how to do simple repairs on their own car that will save them money.

If you already have a brick-and-mortar business. For example, let's say you have an organic coffee shop.

There are so many things you could put on Kajabi to grow your physical business.

You could teach other aspiring coffee shop owners how you started your business. Or you could create a type of online community for your actual customers with exclusive perks. That's what Jeremy did.

I visit a coffee shop that does a lot of workshops like the perfect cup of espresso, wine tasting classes, and even painting classes that are useful to their customers.

All of this could be digitized.

How did Jeremy implement Kajabi in his business?

Jeremy records all of their classes for a membership site he built for Zombie Jiu-Jitsu. It's a great thing for the people who come to the classes. If something comes up and they can't make it, they have access to the class online.

This is a huge perk that attracts more customers to the physical address. It also draws in more customers that can't afford the physical gym membership.

With a lower price point, they can learn from the classes on their own time from home. Then come in on Saturday for his open gym time to practice what they learned online.

You see how powerful that is for his physical business? How it sets Jeremy's business apart?

So if your dream is to own a physical brick-and-mortar business, or if you already own a physical brick-and-mortar business, Kajabi can help you too.

Online business doesn’t have to be an all or nothing thing.

You see a lot of Heroes who make money online, and that is their only source of income. But that's not the only way you have to go about it.

Your brick-and-mortar business and your online business can go hand-in-hand. They can work with each other to build your physical business up.

That's why I'm so excited about Jeremy's story. Because so many business owners don't realize how powerful the internet can be.

Just to give you some ideas, here are some of the ways that you can use the internet to grow your brick-and-mortar business.

  • Online courses/classes
  • Membership sites
  • YouTube
  • Putting physical products on your website to expand your reach
  • Blogging on topics that have value to customers in your niche
  • Social media marketing
  • E-books

What will your customers find valuable? What will attract more customers to your business? How can you make the experience for your customers different from competition in your area?

Don't stay on the mat. Fight back.

Before we wrap things up, I want to talk to the people who need to hear what I'm about to say.

It doesn't matter who you are; you're going to have those moments where life hits you out of nowhere and knocks you down.

And when you're a business owner, the risks of that happening are even greater. Life isn't singling you out just to pick on you. You don't have to be a victim if you don't want to be. You can fight back.

Kajabi cannot fight your battles for you. But we can be in your corner and give you everything you need to win this fight.

And just like that landlord in Texas gave Jeremy a chance to prove what he could do.

I'm here to give you the same chance.
