Welcome back to the Meet The Kajabi Team series!
In this series of blogs, you get a chance to learn more about the awesome members of our Kajabi team who help support your business!
Today you're going to meet a member of our quality assurance team; Forrest Holt!
Name: Forrest Holt
Job title: Quality Assurance Engineer
Tell us about your position at Kajabi and what you do every day.
I test all the latest and greatest features before they get into our customer's hands. Every day I deploy new features (big and small) to our test environment and make sure they are working accordingly on all the major browsers and devices.
Tell us a little bit about your background .
I was born in Fullerton, CA and bumped around California and Arizona while growing up.
I got my first job making sandwiches for Port of Subs at 15 and eventually wound up at a Legal Services company doing quality control as a Legal Video Specialist processing deposition videos.
How did you get started working for Kajabi?
A friend and ex-coworker of mine referred me to Kajabi in March of 2016 and I got a job QA’ing our themes as well as doing some customer support.
I eventually broke out of theme-land and started QA’ing the app in general and then became a full-time QA Engineer for the Dev department.
What is a typical workday like at Kajabi?
A typical day usually starts off sifting through emails to ensure I didn’t miss anything from the day before. I then go to GitHub to see what's ready for QA, prioritize, and start deploying features to our test environment (basically a duplicate of app.kajabi).
Once deployed, I confirm the intended behavior for that feature, document any bugs that pop up, and then test on other browsers and devices if needed.
What’s your favorite part of working for Kajabi?
THE PEOPLE! I work for and with some really inspiring, brilliant people.
The cold brew on tap and nice office (with a view) are pretty okay as well.
What’s your spirit animal?
A Liger, it's pretty much my favorite animal. It's like a lion and a tiger mixed... bred for its skills in magic.
What’s something about your job people wouldn't expect?
As tedious as it can be, it can also be really fun and rewarding!
What’s the most rewarding part of working for Kajabi?
Knowing what I do is making a real difference in real people's lives (you guys – our Heroes!)
I also love seeing the app/features being used in creative ways.
If you were a knowledge entrepreneur, what type of knowledge product would you create and on what topic?
I would offer a video-based course about introductory graphic design using Adobe Suite.
What emoji are you?
Or older man 👴🏻
What’s the coolest thing you’re working on right now?
The latest themes and editor enhancements.
What personal item represents you best?
I would say a Polaroid camera because I love art/photography but also because I enjoy thrifting and that’s where I got it!
