Meet Chloe Daniels, the financial literacy educator and content creator behind Clo Bare, which offers free and paid financial literacy training, tools, and educational resources to teach people how to build wealth “the lazy way.” Before we get into the details of how she built her online business from scratch, here’s a snapshot of her achievements:

  • Generated over $1 million in digital product sales on Kajabi
  • Increased monthly revenue from $5K to $60K
  • Grew her email list to over 100K subscribers

Chloe’s ultimate goal is to provide education in a way that is fun, easy to understand, and accessible — without the overwhelm, shame, and confusion often associated with finances. Since pursuing financial coaching full-time in 2021, Chloe has reached over 100,000 email subscribers, over 2,000 people have taken her Lazy Investor’s Course, and over 76,000 people have registered for her free investing class.

Having struggled with money management for most of her life, Chloe reached a turning point when a personal financial situation in her mid-twenties left her with $15K in credit card debt. She realized this was her opportunity to turn things around.

“I became totally obsessed with fixing my finances and doing so was the most empowering thing I could’ve done for myself,” she says. “Because of how powerful that experience was for me, I knew I wanted to teach others about money, and slowly but surely the brand has become what it is today.

The Challenge: Piecing Together Multiple Tools For One Job

Before Chloe quit her job to pursue coaching full-time, she never made more than $5K a month from the business. The way her systems were set up at the time limited how much money she could make, and she was spreading herself too thin. At one point, she had 60 1:1 coaching clients per month and was using Calendly, Honeybook, and other low-tech options to scrape together a process that made sense.

“I was burnt out and knew that in order to free up my time, I needed to find a way to scale that didn’t require me to trade my time for money,” she recalls.

Chloe also tried hosting monthly Zoom workshops but found that they were not streamlined. She was using Mailchimp for email marketing and selling tickets through Eventbrite. However, both fell short when it came to scaling a streamlined business. She felt that Mailchimp wasn’t an intuitive email management system, and, to top it all off, Eventbrite took a big cut of her ticket sale revenue.

The Solution: Using Kajabi’s All-In-One Platform to Sell Digital Products

Seeking a better way to expand her business, Chloe heard about Kajabi through her business coach who called it “the ‘Cadillac’ of options when it came to selling a digital product.”

The fact that Kajabi is an all-in-one solution that offers hosting, customer management, and email marketing was just one of the reasons Chloe was drawn to the platform. She also appreciated how easy and intuitive it was to use.

“I was surprised because I’m very tech-allergic, but I was able to get up and running in a few weeks.” She adds, “I have countless landing pages and several funnels and Kajabi makes building all of them incredibly easy.”

However, the biggest benefit of using Kajabi was its built-in community feature.

“The native community was a huge draw for me,” she says. “[By using this feature], I wouldn’t have to make my students use a Facebook Group to get their questions answered.”

Results: Scaling to a $1M Business

After implementing Kajabi for her online business, Chloe uses it for nearly everything: online courses, a monthly membership, digital downloads, freebies, and even some of her 1:1 coaching.

During her first year of using Kajabi, the business made over $300K. And this year, it’s on track to hit $1 million.

Over 76,000 students have registered for her free investing class and 2,000 students have taken her online course. Plus, she’s built a community of over 300,000 across Instagram and TikTok.

Looking Ahead: Continuing to Scale

Moving forward, Chloe’s goal is to continue to build on the success she’s had since implementing Kajabi.

She has plans to expand the business with more products to help meet students where they are and that fit a variety of financial literacy needs.

“I could have never scaled to this level without Kajabi,” says Chloe. “Kajabi has grown with me and for that I’m really grateful. I think I would’ve outgrown other platforms really quickly.”

Chloe’s Playbook on Scaling as a Creator

In addition to using a platform built for creators, here are some other tips Chloe has for scaling a $1M business as a creator.

  1. Simplify Your Offering: When you’re starting out, it’s best to focus your efforts on one product offering and one marketing channel. For Chloe’s first year in business, she only focused on using Instagram to market her Lazy Investor’s Course. “Perfect one thing first for your traffic source, product and funnel,” she says. “Then you can move on and create the next thing once you’ve seen success.”
  2. Hire the Experts: You don’t have to build a business alone. Whether you turn to a community or hire a business coach, there are always people who can help you with the areas you aren’t an expert in. “I could not have scaled my business the way I have without a coach,” says Chloe. “My business coach has been instrumental in helping me focus on the most important things, and she has all the knowledge on what to try/test/do when something goes wrong.”
  3. Be Data Driven: It’s easy to get overwhelmed by all of the moving parts that go into running a business. The best way to remain focused is to turn to the data, says Chloe. “We have to focus on what the data is telling us because if we have the right data, it can tell us exactly what we need to prioritize next, and it helps take the emotions out of the equation.”
