Jessica Hawks is a multi-7-figure business coach who teaches young, aspiring entrepreneurs how to leave their 9-5 to start their own lucrative online businesses. In addition to offering a self-paced online course and a membership that gives people the roadmap to starting an online business, she also works privately with students to continue to scale their businesses.

Here’s a snapshot of her success:

  • Earned over $2M in sales with her business
  • Helped over 10,000 students through Kajabi
  • Makes 6 to 7 figures from her business annually

The Challenge: Using Too Many Platforms

With nearly 1M followers across TikTok and Instagram, Jessica is no stranger to the power of social media. However, as she grew her coaching business, she knew she’d need to expand her presence outside of social media platforms.

Like most creators, Jessica has felt compelled to please the algorithm in order to gain more views, likes, and followers—especially given that she’s grown organically and hasn’t taken any ad revenue from social platforms. But it’s her commitment to providing value to her followers that has helped her reach the massive audience she has today.

“When you are hyper-focused on pleasing the algorithm, you forget that you have actual human beings in your community who are following you because they love who you are, the value you provide, and the solutions you give them,” she says. “And without community, there is no true business growth. When you focus on relationship building and developing strong connections with individual people in your audience, the algorithm starts to become irrelevant.”

Since the beginning of her creator journey, Jessica has always prioritized her digital products, courses, and coaching rather than focusing on generating revenue from social platforms. But when she began business coaching, she didn’t have a unified system or platform in place. She did everything manually — from sales to onboarding to 1:1 conversations with students — which was time-consuming and unsustainable as a creator.

“My coaching materials were hosted in multiple areas, and overall, they didn’t reflect the level of professionalism or client experience I wanted my business to exude and my students to have,” she recalls.

After trying a few different platforms used to onboard students and host her courses, she felt they were too clunky, time-consuming, and made the backend of her business feel like a mess.

The Solution: Using an All-in-One Course and Coaching Platform

Since becoming familiar with Kajabi’s all-in-one tools through other business owners and clients, Jessica immediately joined once she started creating courses and has stuck with it ever since.

When she first started using Kajabi, the platform’s breadth of capabilities and intuitive interface stood out to her. Usability and support were important qualities she looked for in a business platform, especially after using other platforms that weren’t as accommodating.

“There are so many platforms out there (many that I’ve tried) that are so stuck in their ways that they are not willing to accommodate the users, even with many requests for a specific enhancement,” says Jessica. “I have never brought an idea to Kajabi that they were not able to assist me with immediately, or that they already were in the process of working on and rolling out shortly.”

She adds, “While it can be nerve-wracking to learn something new, Kajabi is a platform designed to be easily understood by the user. Not to mention, the support team is absolutely incredible anytime I run into a small obstacle that I need extra help with figuring out.”

Results: Generating Over $2M in Sales on Kajabi

Since joining Kajabi, Jessica has helped over 10,000 people start an online business from scratch and has made over $2M in sales. Her primary offering is the Digital Creatives Academy, a self-paced online course that provides a roadmap for leaving your 9-5 to start a business. She also offers courses geared toward learning specific skills, such as email marketing and Pinterest management, so students can learn how to offer those services themselves.

Having multiple revenue streams and a place where she can fully own her content has been a game-changer for Jessica.

“It sounds cliche but true: don’t put all your eggs into one basket. You have to prioritize expanding your business beyond social platforms. If TikTok were to disappear tomorrow, I would be disappointed, but I would not feel like my business was going to crumble because of it. Kajabi creators can feel empowered knowing their business is actually theirs.”

In addition to her growth and success, her students’ experience has significantly improved since joining Kajabi. She attributes that success to:

  • Tracking student progress: Jessica is not only able to track students’ progress in specific courses, but also integrate other learning types, like quizzes and assessments, that significantly improve the learning experience.
  • Comprehensive data: “Anytime a student needs an adjustment to a payment plan or has an issue with access, we are able to resolve it virtually immediately because of how trackable everything is within Kajabi.”
  • Streamlined platform: “Whenever we need to reach out to a student or direct them to a specific resource, we can connect them to it via Kajabi instead of having to connect multiple platforms and potentially lose data.”

Looking Ahead: Simplifying Her Online Business

As Jessica continues to grow her online business, she’s focused on simplifying her processes and having fun along the way.

“I want the impact that I make to be hugely transformational for every single student, and I want the systems within my business to work on autopilot,” she says. “So with that comes a lot of behind-the-scenes work and implementation, which has largely been my focus recently and will be for the foreseeable future.”

Her advice for other creators looking to build an online business from scratch is to stop thinking and start doing.

“You will shock yourself with how much progress you make when you get out of your own head and focus on making tangible progress,” she says. “Don’t overthink your Instagram username, just create the profile. Don’t spend time worrying about what services you’ll offer, find a resource to help you decide and move forward. Know that you can always adjust as needed, but you will never have the opportunity to adjust if you don’t start in the first place.”
