With over 24 years of business ownership under her belt, Rachel Cosgrove is no stranger to entrepreneurship. She owns a successful brick-and-mortar gym called Results Fitness, which she founded 24 years ago and runs with her husband, and Results Fitness University, where she helps fitness business owners build their own businesses. Rachel is also a best-selling author, motivational speaker, and business coach.

Here’s a snapshot of her achievements:

  • Earns $500K annually through her online coaching and consulting business
  • Grew an audience of over 35K followers across channels
  • Has worked with hundreds of members at her gym

One of the biggest keys to success is adapting — whether that means adapting to technology or adapting to your customers’ evolving needs. Rachel did both when she began offering online fitness, coaching, and consulting services using Kajabi.

The Challenge: Moving In-Person Services Online

Rachel was an early adopter of online fitness and coaching. Before online course and coaching platforms were available, Rachel shared her fitness knowledge through VHS, DVDs, and best-selling books. She’s always seen the value in sharing her expertise to help as many people as she can.

Her gym’s approach to fitness is also unique in that its main focus is on offering custom health and fitness plans for its members that include expert-supervised coaching sessions, small group classes, self-guided workouts, and even nutrition and lifestyle coaching.

“We change the way fitness is done by offering personal training services in a format that allows for the best results, the most flexibility as a business, and the ability for the client to pay a rate that allows them to stay long-term working with a personal trainer,” says Rachel. “The business makes more per hour, leveraging the [trainers’] time to help more people.”

However, once the pandemic forced their gym to close down, that’s when she decided to embrace her online platform

The gym started offering online short-term challenges and workshops for their clients since they could no longer offer those sessions in person. At the time, she was using Facebook and a membership site for her online services, but she didn’t feel the combination was the most professional or easy-to-use solution.

The Solution: Consolidating With an All-in-One Platform

After learning about Kajabi from other business experts who recommended the platform, Rachel decided to try it for both of her businesses. She immediately saw the difference between Kajabi and the previous membership site she was using.

“Kajabi is a level up and provides a more professional solution to what’s out there,” says Rachel. “We love how comprehensive Kajabi is and that it’s truly all-in-one.”

In addition to being easy to use, Kajabi offered great support and the community-building aspect she was looking for.

Results: Earning 6-Figures Annually

Now, Rachel uses Kajabi to host all of her products, including online courses and subscription-based memberships. She also uses Kajabi to host her website, run payments, and manage her customer database.

Simply put: Kajabi makes it easy for Rachel to run her six-figure business. She currently earns around $500K annually through her online coaching and consulting business.

Her favorite part of Kajabi? She can “easily create an online course or product right away.” Having this ability makes it easy for anyone to get started without limitation. In fact, she suggests getting started sooner rather than later. “It’s very hard to change platforms, so start with Kajabi now to build for the long term,” says Rachel.

Looking Ahead: Helping People Achieve Fitness Results Online and In-Person

As a longtime entrepreneur, Rachel is most proud of the impact her businesses have made over the years.

“I love helping people, whether with their fitness or their business,” she says. “I’m a coach. It’s who I am, and I love spending my days helping people realize their potential. Hearing the difference we’ve made in people’s lives over our 24 years in business is what I’m most proud of.”

Her biggest lesson learned from over two decades in business?

“Everything changes and you have to keep up with change,” she says. “Thankfully, Kajabi is always looking to stay ahead of the changes.”

Rachel’s Playbook for Creating Your First Course

Whether you’re a business veteran like Rachel or you have niche expertise to share, anyone can create an online course — there’s someone out there who’s looking for the exact knowledge you have. To help you get started, here’s Rachel’s four-step playbook for creating and launching your first online course.

  • Step 1: Brainstorm a topic. As you’re trying to figure out what your course topic should be, you don’t have to look far. Consider what you are already teaching, sharing, or selling. “You’re already an expert in something,” says Rachel. “Listen to the questions you get — what do people ask you?”
  • Step 2: Start documenting your expertise. You can do this on video or in writing, whatever comes naturally to you. “Capture what you already know,” suggests Rachel. “Don’t think you have to come up with something brand new. What comes easy to you may come hard to someone else.”
  • Step 3: Get set up on Kajabi. Start creating your course by taking the content you documented and adding it to Kajabi’s all-in-one course platform. Rachel suggests that with Kajabi, “you’ll be able to scale and help a lot more people!”
  • Step 4: Share it with the world! Find the people who need what you teach and start sharing it with them to help as many people as you can.
