Behavioral pediatrician helps more families with online membership community

Dr. Nerissa Bauer is a behavioral pediatrician with over 20 years of experience. She specializes in helping families who have a child with ADHD or anxiety. She’s been featured in national news publications like Buzzfeed, Teen Vogue, and Parents.

To help improve her reach, she started Let’s Talk Kids Health in January 2021 and uses Kajabi to support her online business. She offers a virtual book club for parents and courses for families. The goal is to improve communication and behavior management skills, and parents and children can take their course together.

What inspired you to get into knowledge commerce?

While I love seeing my patients in my part time private practice, I knew I needed to pivot so I could reach more families and also "fill my cup" at the same time. I thrive in providing group education classes and previously have done this in person, but with the pandemic and the need to adhere to public health protocols, I needed a way to continue to provide a needed service but in a safe way. 

During the pandemic, we saw kids struggling with remote learning and parents getting overwhelmed with having to work and take on teaching their child from home. We also saw kids struggle in this remote environment, especially those who have thinking and learning differences such as ADHD or learning disabilities.  I knew I could create a course that could help support families.

What did you do first in Kajabi? 

I set out to create my new website, make a course, and build my email list! I was impressed with the fact that Kajabi could do it all. Prior to finding Kajabi, I had a blog and my CRM on different platforms.

When did you launch your first digital product?

I launched my first digital product in January 2021 after I successfully ran the course as a pilot/beta with a group of six families. It was then that I was ready to start recording the material and creating what is now pre-recorded content that is accessible to families who take what is now my signature course, TEACH ME ADHD.

How do you promote your digital information product?

I promote it using my Facebook Live show that I also started in January 2021 and through my Kajabi website! I pair this with consistent posting on social media.

I am not tech savvy so I was thrilled to know that Kajabi has world class service and support. I utilized these resources but my timeline and other things I had on my plate I ended up hiring someone who is Kajabi knowledgeable and got the initial set up done in record time. 

What milestones or accomplishments have you reached on Kajabi?

I have built up my email list and now I am so close to hitting almost 1000! I have 984 and going strong! And I hit the $10,000 milestone in late 2021. Now I am heading into my fifth launch and hoping to continue to keep going! I started a membership in November 2021 and am working on building the member resource library.

What other takeaways do you have from your first year using Kajabi?

I have loved Kajabi thus far and recommend it to everyone. It does take a learning curve especially if you are not tech savvy but even now I have finally learned and feeling much more comfortable navigating the back end of it to set up launches and email campaigns. I truly appreciate the live chat, all the archived and live webinars and the videos. As a visual learner this is the best.

What do you plan to do going into your second year on Kajabi?

Continue growing! I want to launch one or two more digital courses too!
