Did you know that Facebook Live is one of the fastest growing content forms today?

It's true! In fact, one of the most cost-effective ways to build your list and get course sales is by broadcasting live to the world via Facebook.

Just ask #KajabiHero Bob Heilig who built a seven figure business using JUST Facebook Live!

But how exactly do you use Facebook Live to grow your brand - do you just go on, hit Live, and hope people flood to your broadcast and start paying you?

Sorry to break the news... but it's not that simple.

You actually need to have a plan going in. Even better - use a system that walks through the process of bringing in new audiences and finally converting them.

So in today’s post, I’ll show you...

  • The 4 step system to build your list with FB Live
  • A high-converting email template you can use to send traffic to your Live post
  • How to get cold FB Live traffic to convert

If you can follow the steps I lay out in this post, you’ll start leveraging Facebook Live into a well-oiled machine that brings you new leads and sales each time you go live!

One Of The Fastest Growing Content Forms Today

Facebook Live launched in 2015 and was described by Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg as “like having a TV camera in your pocket.” The idea was that Facebook Live (FBL) would allow users to create their own live streams for their friends and followers.

Initially live was only available to celebrities before being rolled out to all users.

Facebook is very invested in LIVE content because of the potential for running live ads to a captive audience it presents and has gone so far as to boost the reach of your posts when you go live!

To spell it out even more clearly, Facebook will BOOST your FBL posts reach for you for FREE in order to encourage more people to “go live.”

This creates an enormous opportunity for you to use Facebook Live in your business but you might be wondering why you should add yet another social media channel to your list building activities.

3 Reasons To Use FB Live in your Kajabi Business

1. Go Deeper On Topics

Unlike other streaming services that are limited to 10 minutes of video, you can stream on Facebook Live for up to 90 mins and in some cases channels can get special permissions, which allow them to stream for hours.

This gives you the necessary time to do a deep dive on more complex or nuanced topics and to provide real insight and value to your viewers and the longer you stream the bigger an audience you can attract.

2. Demonstrate Your Personality

From Tony Hawk skating to our current president discussing politics, Facebook live is a great way to show who you are and give some personality to your business.

You don’t need to set up anything fancy, something as simple as showing yourself eating a meal or listening to one of your favorite songs can be enough to get people to start thinking less about your brand and more about you as a person.

3. Get Interactive With Your Buyers

One of the best reasons to use Facebook Live is that it allows you to get up close and interactive with your followers by allowing you to take questions, see reactions and allows you to send notifications to them letting them know exactly when they should join the stream or what you’re discussing.

Now that you know what Facebook Live is and why you should use it in your business, here what you’ll need to build a list with Facebook live:

  • A Facebook Business account or fan page.
  • A webcam and microphone or smartphone.
  • An optimized Landing Page connected to an autoresponder.
  • A “Free Gift” to entice your audience to sign up for your list.
  • An Autoresponder set up with Kajabi connected to your landing page.

Once you have all that stuff set up and ready, it’s time to flip the switch on

The 4 Step System For Building Your Email List with FB Live

Building Your Email List From Facebook Live

1. Dedicate 1 Day A Week To Going Live

The first thing you need to do to tap in to the power of Facebook Live is to set aside some time each and every week to go live.

There’s no point in only going live here or there when you get the chance because it will take too long for you to establish an audience. Instead you want to set aside one day each week and go live for at least 10-12 weeks in order to really see results from this system.

If you’re not willing to set aside the next 2.5 to 3 months to build a lead generating system on Facebook Live then you can stop reading this post right here.

We’ll talk about how to get your followers and subscribers to watch the live stream and how long you should stream for in just a minute, but more important than anything else is going live consistently.

Think about going live as a TV show, you don’t just turn on the TV anytime you want and hope your favorite show has a new episode on. Instead you know exactly what day and time your show comes on so that you can watch live. Using Facebook live works the exact same way.

2. Drive Traffic To Your FB Live

Once you’ve established WHEN you’re going to go live, you now need to drive as much traffic as you can to your stream. The easiest way to do this is through social media and email blasts.

Let’s look at a sample email blast:

Headline: Meet Me Thursday at 7 PM?

Hey {name},

This Thursday March 23 2017, I’m going to be hosting a Facebook Live presentation on “7 Ways To Get 3000 Email Addresses Using YouTube in The Next 30 Days”

In this presentation I’m going to go over EVERYTHING you ever wanted to know about building a list using video marketing on YouTube including:

• How to ask viewers to join your list without being sleazy or salesy

• A little known loophole for getting viewers to spend up to 300% more time watching videos on your channel. Act fast because this loophole is going to close on May 17th!

• How to arrange your playlist for proper SEO inside of YouTube and on Google.

• The 30 second video you can make TODAY that will help you convert up to 75% more viewers

• And much more…

I’ve given this speech before to a group of my private coaching students who pay me 5 figures a year to learn directly from me, and they all think I’m crazy for just giving this stuff away when I could make a killer product.

But there is a method to my madness and when you show up for my FREE Facebook Live Presentation, on March 23 2017, I’ll let you know what it was and how you can benefit from it!

I personally recommend that you create a 3-email sequence leading up to the Facebook Live stream roughly 3-5 days before, 1 day before and 3 hours before.

As for social media, you’ll want to do the same schedule as your email blasts except you’ll want to do a longer countdown going from 3 hours to 1 hours to 30 mins, 15 and NOW!

You’ll also want to mention your Facebook Live stream in any content you produce the week of your first live stream such as blog posts or videos.

3. Go Long

One of the major benefits of Facebook Live is that you can stream video for long enough to acquire an audience as you’re streaming. Facebook itself recommends that you live stream for at least 20 minutes in their Best practices.

In a study done by Tubular in 2016 it was discovered that 4 of the top 5 most viewed Facebook Live streams were OVER 3 hours long, including the most viewed video "Countdown to Inauguration Day 2020."

The longer you go the better, so make sure to set aside AT LEAST 30 minutes a week for live streaming, and make sure that you broadcast for at least 20 minutes if you can’t do 30.

4. Always Have An Agenda

Lastly you have to remember that you have an agenda every time you go live, and that agenda is to drive viewers to your “free gift offer” on your landing page.

One of the cool things about streaming live weekly is that it gives you a lot of opportunities to test different ways of getting people to your offer.

You can try asking people to sign up in the beginning of the stream; you can try it at the end, in the middle etc.…

Another opportunity for testing is in your landing page and your offer. Don’t be afraid to test headlines, the wording of your offer, pictures, and more on your landing page based on the weekly conversion rate.

In general you will see a higher conversion rate at first as people are being exposed to your stream for the first time but you should generally convert between 10—12% of your new audience as your stream size grows.

It’s important to create value for your audience and your streaming content will not be successful without that, but don’t forget about why you’re there and that’s to build your list and move those viewers into your sales funnel.

Man, that was a lot of information right?

Some of you might be feeling a little overwhelmed or not sure where to start so let’s quickly go over everything you already learned so that you get off to a fast start and see big results quickly!

Use Facebook Live For Your Business Email List

A Quick Review

First we talked about the idea of going live video going viral, and discussed the reasons you should be using Facebook live which were:

  • Facebook Live let’s you go deeper on topics.
  • FB Live lets you demonstrate your personality.
  • FB Live helps you get interactive with your buyers!

Then we went over the 4-step system to using Facebook Live to build your list:

  • Dedicate one day a week to going live. Right now today pick your day to go live, I recommend starting with a weekend or night for maximum exposure.
  • Drive traffic to your live stream with email and social media. Make sure that you’re doing everything you would to drive traffic anywhere with your live stream.
  • Go Long! At least 30 minutes for best results, not less than 20 minutes to give yourself a chance to develop an audience.
  • Have an Agenda for growing your list every time. Make sure you’re actively looking to push viewers to your list.

Mark Zuckerberg is on record as saying by 2019 he thinks 95% of Facebook will be videos.

Factor in the changing landscape of the media and how people get and consume their content and you’ll find that Facebook Live is an incredible opportunity that you don’t want to pass up!

Don’t just read this article and forget about it.

Right now make a commitment that you’re going to spend the next 10-12 weeks growing your list by consistently streaming live on Facebook and I guarantee you’ll see hundreds if not thousands of new email signups.

Are you already on FB live?
