Teacher-turned-entrepreneur coaches educators with the help of Kajabi
Former teacher Chynell Moore transitioned into a business and marketing coach for educators, using Kajabi. Now, she has over 100 clients!
Chynell Moore coached people in her previous line of work - education. Now, with her online coaching business, Routine Your Dream, she serves teachers and speech-language pathologists who sell their teaching materials online. Using Kajabi, she guides them in building websites and online courses to monetize their expertise and knowledge. She truly empowers educators to overcome the well-known struggle of not earning enough from their teaching salary.
She shared her story with us and how she uses Kajabi to run her business. Let’s dive in!
Note: Responses have been lightly edited for clarity.
From teacher to entrepreneur
Chynell had her first brush with entrepreneurship when starting her career as a teacher. She spent time in Quito, Ecuador student teaching, but then faced a gap in employment.
She recalled, “When I returned home, I was fortunate to land a teaching position immediately. The only problem? I wouldn't get paid until school started in the fall. So, I searched for ways to use my new teaching degree over the summer. That's when I found the site TeachersPayTeachers. I signed up, hoping to make enough to cover gas and groceries that summer.”
Chynell taught in a classroom for eight years, with her TeachersPayTeachers store serving as a secondary income stream. After teaching second to fifth grade and also language arts and science classes, she decided to transition to full-time coach, coaching teachers on business and marketing.
What motivated her to coach fellow teachers? She said, “I saw the significant need for teachers to have support in running their businesses that went beyond the basics of getting started. So many teachers start the way I did - as accidental entrepreneurs - who have no clue how to scale their business to six figures and beyond.”
The Kajabi tools supporting Chynell’s success
Chynell discovered Kajabi in 2016. She recalled, “At the time, I wasn’t ready to utilize all that Kajabi had to offer, but knew I’d use it in the future. Sure enough, it was the first platform I chose when launching my business coaching business!”
Three years later - she was ready and started with Kajabi in the fall of 2019. What did she do first? Create her website.
She launched her coaching product with two beta clients. “My first and primary offering is my private one-on-one coaching program for TpT [TeachersPayTeachers] sellers,” she said. “I created it for teacher sellers looking for a customized growth plan and accountability to help them reach their business goals. I chose this type of product because it's what I was most passionate about and what I had the most experience with.”
Chynell’s favorite tool on Kajabi? The page builder. She shared, “I use Kajabi to run my entire coaching business, but my teacher clients also use Kajabi. Many teacher sellers I work with find their initial success selling on TeachersPayTeachers. Eventually, they want to reach more teachers in an even more impactful way. Being able to help my clients whip up a high-converting sales page or webinar registration page without any tech issues makes it so much easier and less overwhelming.”
She added, ”Other sites are overwhelming and limiting, and Kajabi is intuitive and easy to use. I'm not techy, and I built my entire coaching business for teacher sellers on Kajabi.”
But if she does run into trouble when working on her website or digital products, she knows she can always reach out to the Kajabi Support team for assistance.
“The Kajabi chat feature feels like I have a full-service team even though I am a solo business owner. I also feel good knowing that when my clients choose to use Kajabi to launch their course or membership, if there is a question I do not know, the Kajabi team is just a chat away to help out,” she noted.
Now, Chynell is able to provide educators the support they need to grow their businesses, with Kajabi as her tool of choice. But Kajabi is making an impact on Chynell’s personal job satisfaction, too.
She described, “When I quit teaching to enter entrepreneurship full-time, I worried I'd miss the classroom. I love to help and serve. Sitting alone with a computer versus in a classroom with 20 bubbly personalities is different. Kajabi has helped keep my passion for teaching going because I use the platform to still teach.”
Chynell’s impact on clients
Chynell’s work illustrates one of the best things about knowledge commerce - the ability to make a positive difference in the lives of others by sharing expertise. She reflected, “My pride and joy come from the impact and success my clients have experienced after I helped them launch their courses and memberships for teachers.”
So far, she’s coached over 100 teacher sellers. The individual impacts on each student are nothing short of significant - just read some of the results her clients have achieved:
She shared, “My clients commonly make between $5,000-$20,000 when launching for the very first time. I've seen my clients pay off student loans, buy their cars in cash, and stay home with their babies longer before returning to teaching because they went through my coaching program and saw results. It's empowering to know that I’m helping make an impact like that.”
What’s next for Chynell and Routine Your Dream? She’s keeping up her successful coaching program and podcast, of course. But, she also plans to expand so she’s able to support even more teachers. She says, “Any future offerings I release will still focus on empowering teachers to make an impact and create the lifestyle they truly desire.”
Kajabi unlocks doors for teachers
Chynell shows that with hard work and ingenuity, she was able to reach the income of her dreams - but unfortunately, this level of income wasn't available to her as a teacher. Many teachers struggle with conflicting feelings; they have such passion for their work but don’t receive the pay they need to support working in education long term. Some burn out and leave teaching altogether to better support themselves and their families.
But it doesn’t have to come to that. Like Chynell coaches her students, Kajabi gives teachers the opportunity to teach beyond the classroom. By monetizing their expertise online with courses, coaching, or digital downloads, teachers can connect with students all over the world with the freedom to teach on their terms.
The best part? Teachers can start monetizing their knowledge while they still work in the classroom. Teachers don’t have to leave the classroom - building up a secondary income stream can make it feasible to stay in school and boost your income.
